Ira Cohen, Esq., Partner at Henkel & Cohen, P.A., of Miami, Florida, has been invited to speak as a Moderator at a session of the 2012 Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA), in Washington, D.C., on May 6, 2012.
Mr. Cohen's topic is entitled "The Common Senses of U.S. Trademark Law: Protection and Enforcement of Non-Traditional Marks." Among other areas covered, his talk will include a discussion of the latest developments in American trademark law pertaining to colors, scents, shapes, sounds, moving images, holograms, tastes, and textures as marks.
INTA is a non-profit membership association dedicated to the support and advancement of trademarks and related intellectual property as elements of fair and effective commerce. The International Trademark Association was founded well over a century ago, in 1878, by seventeen (17) merchants and manufacturers who pre-saged the necessity for an organization to "protect and promote the rights of trademark owners, to secure useful legislation, and to give aid and encouragement to all efforts for the advancement and observance of trademark rights."
